The Spring Equinox by Ellen Jackson

Illustrator: Jan Davey Ellis
Series: None but she wrote books for the Autumn Equinox and both solstices
Publisher: The Millbrook Press

Another great seasons book from Ellen Jackson. Her books are awesome because they teach about the customs, beliefs and practices of the season all over the world, both past and present that have contributed to our celebrations now.

Included are customs from: Mexico, Mayans, Rome, Europe, Native Americans, Russia, Jews (Passover), Iranians (No Ruz), Indians (Holi), Christians (Easter), Africaans and Earth Day.

Near the end is a story about Eostre or Ostara, the Goddess of the Dawn and Springtime and how the customs of Easter came to be. Following that are some activities to do with your kids like crafts and snacks.

An awesome book!
